An ACH Reading List

At Bank Fraud Forum we've posted a number of articles on the rising risk associated with ACH. We've also gotten a number of comments and emails asking for additional resources that could be accessed online. One of the challenges for fraud analysts in the move to electronic payments is understanding the underlying payments mechanisms. Here is a list of material/on-line resources that I have found valuable:

Fraud in the ACH System: A Holistic Approach for Financial Institutions. You will have to register for access. This paper is an overview of the ACH risk landscape and the evolution of solutions.

BITS ACH Check Conversion Risk Management toolkit - This is a handy resource for fraud analysts to help get a handle on ACH check conversion transactions. Part of it is intended to be a desk reference or cheat sheet for the analyst or investigator.

NACHA resources page (lots of good stuff here).

Portals & Rails – Retail Payments Risk Forum (FRB Atlanta) This is a blog that has a lot of good information about retail payments and related topics, and is a good source of reliable information and expert opinion.

NACHA IAT (International ACH Transaction) Industry Resource Page – If you're interested in international ACH transactions, this is the place to go. You can get to this page form the NACHA resource page listed above, but I thought I'd list it separately for those of you who might want to go directly there.

FedACH International ACH Transaction (IAT) Resource Center – If you're still hungry for more on IAT, try this site.

This list is obviously just a subset of the material that is available. If there are materials or websites that you find helpful, tell us about them.
