CITY OF TONAWANDA: Four arrested for fraud

After eight months of work, City of Tonawanda police have charged four Buffalo residents believed to be involved in an elaborate check fraud ring. City police first became suspicious in early April, when the Citizens Bank branch inside the Young Street Tops received payroll checks that had been flagged as counterfeit. Lt. Fred Foels said Capt. John Ivancic and Detective Michael Kenney examined some of the checks that had been cashed before Citizens Bank caught on to the scam, finding them to be detailed pieces of work.
