A Florence woman faces a bank fraud charge after police said she opened a bank account and cashed a fraudulent check, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said. Shannon Brewer, 40, of 3403 E. Bennett Drive was arrested Tuesday in connection with crimes dating back to 2008, Raines said. On July 1, 2008, the suspect went to the First Federal Bank inside the Wal-Mart SuperCenter on South Irby Street and opened an account using a $381.23 fraudulent check. The woman cashed the check and deposited some of the money, but received most of it back in cash, Raines said.
