A 47-year-old from Myrtle Beach pleaded guilty to bank fraud in federal court this week, according to a news release Friday from the office of U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins. Scott William Halterman was a partner with T.B. Consulting & Billing in Myrtle Beach and was accessing two business checking accounts at BB&T and another at First Federal Bank, Wilkins said in the release. In July of 2007, Halterman began kiting checks between the three accounts. Wilkins said Halterman wrote checks on one account and then deposited them into another, even though there were insufficient funds in the first account to cover the amount of the checks.
