Nine people were indicted on racketeering charges in a check-cashing scam. The Euclid, Maple Heights and Cleveland residents "preyed on at least four small, independent beverage stores in Richmond Heights, Euclid, Willoughby Hills and Cleveland," prosecutors spokesman Ryan Miday said. "They cashed fake payroll checks in April and May totalling $8,407.48. The checks appeared authentic and had legitimate bank routing numbers."
