May 15, 2009
Total Loss:
$1.8 Million
Four men who were living in Florida allegedly made trips to Cicero, Rochester and New York City to install "skimming" devices on ATM machines and illegally retrieve account and password information. The men targeted the drive-up ATM of the Chase bank branch on East Circle Drive, Tim Kirk said. He said they were in Central New York visiting an acquaintance.
The total amount they scammed was $1.8 million and most of it was wired to Eastern Europe, Kirk said.
