Seven years for bank racket

Andrew Henry, the man charged in connection with an identity-theft racket involving the loss of over $8 million from the island's commercial banks, was sentenced to seven years in jail Monday. Police say Henry was captured when he went to the Oxford Place, St Andrew, branch of Scotiabank to withdraw $450,000. He reportedly submitted a fake ID while impersona- ting a customer and making several huge withdrawals. The court heard that on separate occasions, Henry, who has 13 previous convictions for fraud, obtained $2.8 million, $400,000, $1.6 million, $50,000, $450,000 and US$32,176 from the commercial banks.
