Falls man sentenced in U.S. District Court for bank fraud

A city man was sentenced to 32 months in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised probation, in connection with his recent bank fraud conviction. Joseph M. Gould, 29, of Cuyahoga Falls, was sentenced Nov. 6 by U.S. District Court Judge Sara Lioi, according to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States attorney for the Northern District. Gould was also ordered to pay $207,369 in restitution to Charter One Bank and a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim's Fund. A Bill of Information filed with the court alleged that between April and September 2008, Gould, then employed as the manager of the Montrose Branch of Charter One Bank, made at least 11 unauthorized withdrawals from the accounts of two Charter One customers totaling $207,369, without the knowledge of the bank customers.
