Four Atlanta men, accused by DeKalb investigators of posing as construction workers and attempting to pass counterfeit checks at banks in DeKalb County, were charged, but it's suspected they may be part of a larger scheme. The men are thought to be part of a larger check cashing scam operation active in several states, including Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee, according to Sheriff Jimmy Harris. Claude Derick Campbell, 36, Steven Darcy Beard, 49, Michael Edward Blalock, 51, and Anthony T. Peterson, 45, all of Atlanta, are each charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a felony.
