Man gets prison for home equity, credit card fraud
November 20, 2009
Total Loss:
$538,000
An Anaheim man was sentenced to 75 months in federal prison and ordered to pay about $538,000 in restitution for his part in two identity theft schemes, including one aimed at getting $1.5 million from home equity lines of credit, federal prosecutors said. Joe Inthisone, 28, had already pleaded guilty to bank fraud, conspiracy and aggravated identity theft, according to U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek. Inthisone and two other men – Martin Quoc Pham and Viet Nguyen – used consumers' personal identifying information to take over equity lines of credit accounts at JPMorgan Chase Bank, and then transferred money to themselves, Mrozek said.
