Man Charged With Rewiring ATM Cards For Cash

October 16, 2009
Total Loss: $15,000
A west suburban man was ordered held on $100,000 bond Thursday for allegedly rewiring gift and debit cards to steal more than $15,000 from ATMs. Nikolay P. Todorov of 7321 W. Fullerton in Elmwood Park is charged with one count of continuing a financial crimes enterprise -- a Class 1 felony; one count of wire fraud -- a Class 3 felony; and three counts of theft by deception -- Class 3 felonies, according to a release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's office. Todorov allegedly was in possession of more than 30 gift and debit cards that had been altered so that, when used, would withdraw money from bank accounts held by someone other than Todorov, the release said.
