A Hartford woman has been sentenced to 18 months of prision followed by three years of supervised release after cashing and attempting to cash approximately 30 counterfeit checks at various banks throughout Connecticut. Quiana Mayo, also known as Shakira Acevedo and April Knight, 24, of Hartford, attempted to cash and cashed checks that were drawn on bank accounts of real companies and Connecticut municipalities in the total amount of $30,225.95.
