2 Arrested In Credit Card 'Skimming' Scheme
September 17, 2009
Two men were arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing credit card numbers from customers at restaurants and fast food chains. Florida Law Enforcement investigators say Matthew Adoo and Lee Rivera skimmed credit cards to buy fancy clothes and shoes. The accused mastermind, Brandan Tristan, however, is still on the run. Hugh and Nancy Stott know all about how skimming credit cards works. "I had something charged to my card and I know it came from a golf trip at a motel, like flowers," Hugh said. "You can't trust anyone and that is a shame," Nancy said. Investigators say they know the thieves paid off employees at Wendy's in Melbourne and at other fast food chains to obtain customers credit card information using devices called skimmers.
