Marian victim of European syndicate bank scam

Marian University is an apparent victim of a European syndicate bank fraud, resulting in the theft of about $189,000. To date, the university has recovered $54,000, according to a press release today from Marian Provost Dr. Daniel J. Maloney. The theft took place in August and consisted of illegal bank withdrawals and disbursements, he said. No personnel information was breached and the thieves did not access the information through Marian's Office of Human Resources.
