Suspects arrested in Michigan check fraud scam

Hartford police said they arrested nine men today for attempting to use counterfeit checks at the South Center Street location of National City Bank. Bank employees contacted Hartford police after the group of men allegedly tried to use suspicious checks in the bank's drive-through. When police arrived, they said they found that the men's van did not have a registered license plate. They said the van and several other vehicles had been involved in recent counterfeit check transactions amounting to more than $8,000.
