Owensboro Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud Charges

An Owensboro man could face up to 30 years in jail after he pleaded guilty to federal bank fraud charges. The U.S. Department of Justice said Tony Lyle, 34, of Owensboro, pleaded guilty on Friday to charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. According to the indictment, Lyle and five co-defendants allegedly opened bank accounts using business names and wrote fraudulent checks at various places in western Kentucky. Authorities said the bad checks had a total estimated worth of at least $22,000. Federal officials said Lyle is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24th. They said he could face up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
