The Mt. Carmel Police Department is investigating a check fraud scam that is occurring in several local communities. According to Chief of Police Jeff Besing, Wabash Savings Bank had contacted him in regards to "computer generated" checks being cashed in Olney. These checks had the Wabash Savings Bank name and address on them, but no actual banking account exists for these checks, authorities report. The checks appear to be "payroll type checks."
