Police arrested a Brookline man on charges of engaging in a massive personal check kiting scheme, opening accounts at dozens of area banks while dressed as a priest. Koffi Gbikpi, 45, has an extensive criminal record in Florida for check fraud and faces charges of forgery and uttering a false instrument after Boston police arrested him yesterday at Boston Private Bank at Post Office Square, the Police Special Investigations Unit said in a statement. Police said Gbikpi opened accounts with nearly 30 banks throughout the state, including three accounts at Boston Private Bank.
