Bookkeeper arraigned, charged with $1M theft

A bookkeeper for a Dalton, Ga., insurance business was arraigned in Atlanta Thursday for allegedly stealing more than $1 million from her employer. Carolyn Lynn Cherry, 63, of Chatsworth, Ga., now faces federal charges of mail fraud and bank fraud. She began working for a Dalton insurance company identified in court documents as "R.I.†in March 2003. Between May 2003 and August 2009, she allegedly forged her supervisor's signature on company checks and used them to pay her personal credit card bills, which totaled more than $1 million.
