Gloucester man indicted on fraud charges for trying to buy Smithfield mansion, vehicles

A Gloucester man accused of writing bad checks and using fraudulent financial records to buy cars, ATVs and a million-dollar mansion was indicted by an Isle of Wight County Circuit Court grand jury this morning. Jason Gardner Thompson, 34, was indicted on five felony charges: three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, one count of using false statements to obtain credit and one count of writing bad checks.
