TWO Winnipeg men are accused of wearing elaborate disguises to rip off Winnipeg banks and fund an elaborate lifestyle. The pair, charged with more than 100 fraud-related offences, are accused of using special machinery to tamper with bank automated teller machines and steal data from people's debit cards. Winnipeg police allege the pair has scammed at least 38 spots since last fall, using machines attached to the ATM and pinhole cameras that captured people's passwords. The machine was put on top of the slot where customers insert their cards, and stored the card's data. "We just trust that when we do those types of transactions that it's safe," said Det. Sgt. Sandra Martin of the commercial crime unit.
