Total Loss: $641,000
A Troy woman has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for using more than $600,000 in charitable funds for her personal expenses. Debra Ann Boynton received a 33-month sentence Thursday in U.S. District Court in Detroit. She also must pay $641,477 in restitution to Bank of America and will face three years of supervised release following her prison sentence. Boynton was employed as an assistant in the compliance and community development area for Standard Federal Bank on Big Beaver Road in Troy. She pleaded guilty to bank fraud in July after being accused of forging and falsifying general ledger debit vouchers between August 2000 and November 2007.
