A woman from Florida pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal check fraud charges related to a wave of car break-ins last summer at suburban parks and churches. Tara Funk, 32, of Bradenton, Fla., was one of five people arrested in what authorities said was a ring that smashed into parked cars across Missouri in August. Funk pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey, who set sentencing for Feb. 15. She could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Three of her four co-defendants have hearings before Autrey within the next week.
