Roseburg car dealership owner indicted on bank fraud charges

A prominent Roseburg car dealer is responding to a U.S. Federal Court indictment accusing him of defrauding two Oregon banks. David Gilbert, owner of the Horizon Mazda Honda dealership in Roseburg, facing 8 counts of bank fraud and one county of conspiracy to commit bank fraud for an alleged “check kiting” scheme that happened in 2008. Between December 1st and 9th of 2008, investigators say Gilbert and others deposited, or caused others to deposit, checks between the checking accounts of the two banks, including more than 500 kited checks, totaling more than $19 million.
