Five people have been indicted on federal charges in a check-cashing scheme in the Omaha area. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Omaha says the suspects each face a total of 22 counts of conspiracy, bank fraud and identity theft. The federal indictment handed down Friday says the suspects would steal checks from residential mailboxes, then forge them and cash them in at local banks. The scheme was allegedly carried out from September until mid-January.
