Gane gets 13 years for $5.8 million fraud
September 15, 2011
Total Loss:
$5.8 Million
There was a moment during the sentencing of Guy W. Gane on Wednesday when it was suggested the Amherst-based Ponzi scheme operator might have been a good guy gone astray.
More than one of the victims sitting in the courtroom snickered, and another could be heard muttering, "What a joke. What a joke."
In the eyes of his 90 victims, it's hard to imagine the investment adviser-turned-felon, who got 13 years in federal prison, as anything but a crook who stole their life savings.
